The significance of these numbers, you ask? I’m glad you did. Here’s the rundown.

95: the number of goals scored on opening night of the 2005-06 NHL season.

15: the number of games in which these goals were scored. This is an average of 6.3 goals/game.

1: the number of professional hockey leagues in North America that need to revisit their rulebook revisions.

I have an idea. Let’s lower the rims in the NBA. Let’s give the NFL 5 downs to move the ball 8 yards. Slowpitch MLB, anyone?

If you’re going to bring back hockey, for the love of it all, bring back hockey.
